about peasant investor

ABout me & My Mission

Hey there! I’m Peasant Investor, a banker from Sydney Australia, where affordability has taken a hit in recent years and housing has become completely out of reach for many. Personally, I’ve always been fascinated by how people build wealth and love discussing personal finances with friends.

Given my background, it’s not uncommon for friends to ask for my thoughts on the next big investment or to show me where they’ve put their hard-earned money after hearing advice from the “gurus”. What surprises me is the low level of financial literacy, especially considering it’s not a subject taught in schools. Even more surprising? Finding unbiased, high-quality financial education is more difficult than it should be. I’m passionate about changing that and making financial knowledge more accessible for everyone.

Why "Peasant Investor"?

Now I’m not actually a “peasant”, but compared to trust fund babies, Ferrari owners and property moguls, I’d definitely be considered one. My goal is to reach financial freedom (hopefully FAT FIRE), and I’m keen to share my journey along the way—from investing in super and ETFs to building wealth through property. If you’re looking for honest insights, lessons from my wins and mistakes, and practical strategies/ideas for building wealth, you’re in the right place!

My Qualifications

I have over a decade of experience in wealth and investment management, working at both global and domestic banks here in Australia. So definitely seen both the good and bad sides of the market—and witnessed firsthand how the wrong use of financial products can really hurt one’s wealth building journey. Although I am not a financial advisor (read disclosure), I do possess solid market and product knowledge which I’m keen to share.

Personally, I’ve invested in CFDs, options, ETFs, direct shares and have an investment property (it’s an apartment, guh!). Some investments have gone well, but I’ve also learned a couple painful lessons with big losses along the way.
