Yeeeew! Dividends hit different when everything else is bleeding! July was another quiet one for the market overall but semiconductors absolutely got cooked. Samsung and SK Hynix in Korea took a proper beating and trades like a meme stock!
But then the dividend payments rolled in and suddenly the month felt a whole lot better. $7,158 in dividends landing in the account is genuinely one of my favourite feelings in investing. All the annually paid ETFs firing at once is a beautiful thing. Yes I know I have to pay tax on it. But worth!
This month I also did a bit of rebalancing and housekeeping across the portfolios. Reduced some US exposure by trimming IVV and rotated into commodities to bring that weighting back up. Also swapped out IETH for ETHB and BITA. Both are US based and actually pay a bit of income on the crypto side which I like a lot more. Getting paid to hold Bitcoin and Ethereum? Sure why not. With semis getting smashed I saw an opportunity to top up BEMG on the dip.
Superfund – SMSF
Balance: $284,160.00 (up $1,913.72)
Comment: Busy month in here. Bought BEMG on the dip as semis got burnt, rebalanced by trimming IVV and rotating into commodities, and swapped IETH out for ETHB and BITA for a bit of crypto income exposure.
Long-Term ETF – NAB Equity Builder
Balance: $197,129.20 (down $5,604.76)
Debt: ~$92,487
Equity: ~$104,641
Wifey Portfolio – Betashares Direct + Tiger
Balance: $133,569.00 (down $497.21)
Comment: Kept it simple this month and bought into the satellite ETFs that dropped the hardest. When things dip I just keep buying!
School Fee Portfolio – Moomoo
Balance: $24,898.00 (up $149.48)
Comment: Deployed some decent capital into this one on the weakness. Topped up bonds via OZBD, BEMG and BGBL for the core holdings. Also had a little play on DRAM given the semiconductor carnage!
